This custom alphabet is inspired by ancient typographical history such as the Phoenician Alphabet, and Viking Age Norse Rune-stones. As these ancient alphabets look strikingly similar to the modern day English alphabet, I saw an opportunity to create a runic alphabet that could be read by modern day viewers.

I created my final design by carving each letter into linoleum blocks. Then I utilized hand-press printmaking techniques to transfer onto “Stonehenge” white paper. This process allowed me to create a rich texture that mimics the stone etchings of these early civilizations.
